Dr. Marissa Fruchter is a licensed clinical psychologist with experience providing short and long-term psychotherapy to adolescents, young adults, older adults, and couples from a wide variety of backgrounds. She specializes in treating concerns related to depression, anxiety, trauma, life changes, and identity, including gender and sexuality. She enjoys helping individuals explore their relationships, including romantic, familial, and platonic. Dr. Fruchter has spent several years working with undergraduate and graduate students in university counseling centers. In this setting she has served as the trauma specialist, providing targeted treatment for survivors of sexual assault. She enjoys working with this population and strives to help survivors feel heard, safe, and empowered. Dr. Fruchter is also interested in working with artists and other individuals in creative fields, and has previously led expressive arts therapy groups.
Dr. Fruchter prioritizes building trusting and collaborative therapeutic relationships. She provides a warm and nonjudgmental environment in which individuals can feel safe and comfortable to be themselves, express the full range of their thoughts and feelings, and explore new ways of being. She is flexible in her treatment, incorporating elements from several therapy approaches in order to tailor treatment to the needs of each individual. Her treatment is influenced by psychodynamic therapy, CBT, and ACT/mindfulness-based treatments, among others.
Dr. Fruchter received her MA and PsyD in clinical psychology from the Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology at Widener University. She received her undergraduate degree from Tufts University, where she completed a major in clinical psychology and a minor in studio art.
