INSURANCE.
Our practice is an out-of-nework provider. This means that we do not accept insurance of any kind and all fees are paid directly by the client. However, you may get a significant portion of the fees you paid reimbursed to you by your insurance company. We will provide you with a monthly “superbill” to asssist you in submitting an out-of-network claim to your insurance provider.
-
First, call your insurance provider and ask them this series of questions:
Do I have out-of-network benefits for behavioral health services?
If the answer is yes, then ask:
What is my deductible? (This is the amount you will have to pay out-of-pocket before your insurance company will provide you with any reimbursement. This amount typically restarts at the beginning of every calendar year.)
Next, ask:
IN-PERSON APPOINTMENT - What is the reimbursement rate for a CPT code 90834 (if you will be doing individual therapy) or 90847 (if you will be doing couples therapy) or 90853 (if you will be doing group therapy) for a licensed psychologist in zip code 11238?
REMOTE APPOINTMENT - What is the reimbursement rate for a CPT code 90834-95 (if you will be doing individual therapy) or 90847-95 (if you will be doing couples therapy) or 90853-95 (if you will be doing group therapy) for a licensed psychologist in zip code 11238?
Lastly, ask:
What is the process for submitting a claim?
LICENSED MASTER SOCIAL WORKER & POSTDOCTORAL PSYCHOLOGIST - These therapists are working under the supervision of a licensed psychologist while they accrue hours toward their clinical license. If you are working with a LMSW or postdoc, check with your insurance provider to find out if they accept superbills that are co-signed by the provider (LMSW or postdoctoral psychologist) and their supervisor (licensed psychologist).
If you would like to submit for out-of-network reimbursement, you will have the opportunity to indicate this on your intake form. If indicated, our practice will email you a monthly “Superbill” that will contain all the necessary information you will need to submit to your insurance claim.
Cancellation policy.
Therapy is a long-term commitment between therapist and client. Our therapists have a limited amount of appointment slots to offer each week. If you cancel a session the therapist is not able fill that time with a temporary client. We view therapy as a mutual investment between therapist and client with the therapist reserving a 45-minute slot for you each week.
You are allotted three free cancellations per year (12-month cycle). You will be charged for any cancellation after three cancellations regardless of reason for cancellation or amount of notice given. You may be able to “make up” your missed appointment within the same week or the following week (i.e., you would have two appointments that week) if your therapist’s schedule allows for this. If the therapist is able to schedule a makeup session you will not be charged for the original cancelled appointment.
Please note that clients who have a biweekly or other appointment arrangement with their therapist will be charged for all cancelled appointments regardless of reason for cancellation or the amount of notice given. You will not be charged for the missed session if your therapist is able to schedule you a makeup session within the same week or the following week (meaning you would meet for two consecutive weeks in a row). Therapists’ ability to offer makeup sessions is not guaranteed.
Clients will always be charged for “no-shows” and will not be offered a makeup session.
Session frequency.
Our practice requires a weekly appointment commitment. Any changes to session frequency are at the discretion of the therapist.

how to get started.
Fill out our contact form with your therapy preferences.
We will respond with an email providing you with more information about our process (fees, scheduling, etc.).
You will schedule a brief phone call with one of our directors. The purpose of this call is to make sure our practice is a good fit for what you are looking for. We’ll ask you a bit about your reasons for coming to therapy and give you a sense about how we work.
This call is free of charge and should take about 15 minutes.
If we both decide to move forward with setting up your first therapy session, we will then pick a date and time for your weekly appointment with your new therapist. Our therapists typically meet with clients on a weekly basis at a regularly scheduled time unless a specific arrangement is made.
Individual and couples therapy sessions are typically 45-minutes in length. Group therapy sessions last 75 minutes.
Upon scheduling your first appointment, you will receive a link to our secure Client Portal where you will review, sign and complete our intake paperwork, which includes various consent documents and a brief questionnaire (this should take about 10 minutes).
All paperwork should be completed within 24 hours of scheduling in order to secure your appointment.
